This ramen was perfect. It was so good and special and made me a happy girl. I am already looking forward to my next trip. Good vibes in there and the employees were very lovely :)
Hinomaru has always been a family favorite! I got to try their ceviche ramen, which is their summer special. It's topped with lots of sashimi pieces! It was so refreshing to have especially while dining in their outdoor seating. They also have solid ramen options. I didn't get any at this visit but I love their shoyu ramens. Their ramen is perfect during the winter or on a cold day!
Pleasantly surprised! As someone who frequents Ramen spots, I have high expectations and this spot hit the mark with their rich broths. Parking is tough to find though (it is NY!) Setting: Wooden interior with tons of two and four-tops. Outdoor seating is also available, but can get hot in the summer. Service: Great! Our server was incredibly attentive and consistently checked on us and refilled our water quickly. Food: Really flavorful! I have gotten both the lunch special ($24 includes app, main, and drink) and a la carte options from here. For ramen and appetizers, the price is a bit more than other spots in Queens so it loses a point for overall value.
This place is a jewel in Astoria. Delicious ramen, full of flavor, only few places can cook such a flavorful Ramen. I also tried the japanese pancake appetizer and was delicious. Everything is hearthy and very umami. Can't wait to try the drinks!!! My recommendation: Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen with honey glazed ribs
Quaint ramen eatery in Astoria. Easy to commute in a decent neighborhood. I ordered the tonkotsu shoyu ramen. It was decent, thick pork broth. The pork was tender with earthy mushrooms and ginger. The noodles seemed fresh, since this is Michelin rated eatery, should be fresh ingredients. To add, also affordable. The restrooms are located in the rear and the service was great. The waitress handled the dine in and take out orders professionally. Please tip , if your card doesn't offer tip, please always have cash. This spot is brilliant for date nights or just a solo outing with alcohol and vegan options. Itadaki masu!
Solid spot for some ramen! Alas i do not live in the neighborhood but if i did i think it would be a regular spot, but not necessarily somewhere i'd recommend you go out of your way for. We got: - crispy pig ears 9/10: these were delightful and i don't know what the seasoning on it was but it was excellent - hinomaru ramen 8/10: pretty good, nothing spectacular though. - kara chanpon 9/10: i'm not a huge fan of seafood ramen but this one was quite good and definitely special. I would highly recommend if you like seafood ramen.
This is some of the best ramen you can get in Astoria. The ramen is always packed with flavor but not so salty that you have to force yourself to finish the bowl. The tonkotsu is my personal favorite but really you can't go wrong here, and they even have a very helpful chart to tell you what ramens pair with what imported Japanese beers! The vibes are good for small to medium sized groups: tables for solo diners and couples in front, and larger tables for parties of 4+ in back.
No reservations so make sure you plan your timing or come with patience. On a weekday night, our wait was non existent. We ordered Sapporo's, the Tori Karage (perfectly crispy and juicy). We had the HinoMaru Ramen, which was a good kind of Spciy and flavorful, and the Tonkatsu Ramen with Honey Glazed Ribs, and I was t sure if the ribs were going to be much, but it worked so well, the met fell off the bone and there was no struggle. Love coming here and the staff is so friendly.
Giving 5 stars bcuz they is a neighborhood gem and best in Astoria in my opinion. Portion size is great. I left very full! The soups were delicious and at the right temperature! I will say that the squid may have been a little overcooked, but I'll accept that over undercooked. Service was good. Inside is cute and quaint.
